Grabbing the attention of a young audience is never easy, and when it comes to tackling unpleasant or uncomfortable subjects, such as mental and physical health, it can be a downright challenge. To make the conversation a little easier, we created an illustrated book summarising SAFE YOU+’s findings and discussing their recommendations. We opted for a semi-realistic style, using simple but eye-catching illustrations to convey the seriousness of the topic while protecting the sensitivity of our readers. To put theory into practice, we produced an interactive film, depicting the effects of doping on young athletes, their teammates, and their future careers. The multiple-choice aspect was ideal to reach such a dynamic target, giving them the opportunity to explore the ugly consequences of doping at their own pace.
The campaign was an overwhelming success. The European Commission even featured it as a European Success Story, and our video reached thousands of young athletes all over the Europe. It was even translated into multiple languages and is used to this day by schools and educational institutions in UK, Germany, Italy, and Greece. We couldn’t be more proud to have taken part in such a wonderful effort, and we hope that SAFE YOU+ will continue to save lives for many years to come.
